Teens First Interview - What to Wear
I've been asked what Kiddo wore on her first interview.
She came out of the bedroom several times so I could help her decide. I guess you could say she ran it through the "Mommy Filter."
(Kiddo thinks the Mommy Filter is too picky, it's possible she's partly right, but sometimes common sense eludes her.)
Kiddo finally left for the interview wearing a red blouse, dark jeans, sneakers, her hair pinned up on the sides, and scant mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss.
A few things to keep in mind:
+ Blouse or dress/button down shirt - rather than a t-shirt.
+ No shirts with words. Make sure the shirt covers your middle/meets your pants, isn't low cut, and has sleeves (no tank tops).
+ Dress pants aren't necessary, but black or dark jeans are preferable over faded. No holes! Make sure the cuffs aren't dragging on the ground. Don't be afraid to wear a skirt or capri pants.
+ No flip-flops. If you wear sneakers, make sure they are not beat up.
+ Don't dye your hair purple the day before. If you have a nose piercing, gages in your ears etc. either take them out or at the very least, wear something ...umm...dainty. (Not judging - just don't freak out the older folks - K? They could be the ones hiring you.)
Other tips:
+ Don't chew gum. Your make-up shouldn't look like Morticia Adams. Not too much perfume (some folks are allergic). No "outstanding" colors of nail polish.
Things to take with you:
+ Pen, a small notepad, birth certificate, social security card, license or permit, and school I.D.
Good Luck and don't forget the deodorant!
Feel free to run it past your own Mommy Filter.
