Backyard Camping
It's been a few years since we've done any camping besides backyard camping. For the four years we lived in LA, one of us was always working a weekend. Timing was horrid. Louisiana's climate and terrain wasn't where we could relax outdoors. We're weren't wimps, but the humidity will kill ya, and the bugs will drive ya off the deep end!
We've been back in Indiana for a year. You'd think we'd have been on some excursions by now. I've got a taste for a primitive weekend.
Sad to say we've not been camping yet. Day trips will only tide a soul over for so long. Last week Kiddo and Cuz pitched our much loved, but getting thread-bare tent in the back yard. They stayed out there all night, but got wet when it rained, because none of us thought to buy more waterproof spray.
A couple nights after, Daddy-O and I tried to get some zzz's out there. We staggered, pillows in hand, to our own bed around 4 a.m.
We're just too dang old and stoved up to be sleeping on the ground with only a doubled afghan and sleeping bag fluff in between us and terra too firma.
UGH!
The next day we we're shopping at Aldi's and I finally broke down and bought the queen size, self-inflating air mattress. I've had my eye on it for a month. $34 and change. Not bad.
Before we got a chance to try it out, we took the tent down because since we've moved to town, Daddy-O is obsessed with his lawn.
Pfft.
To. Be Continued.
