Writing Squirrels and Asylums

My long-hibernating writing squirrels must be comatose. They haven't been running on their wheels for almost a year. They've been no help conjuring anything remotely creative about plot or characters for NaNoWriMo. On the other hand my cliche-generating gerbils are workin' overtime. The gerbils keep reminding me about a silly scary movie I watched last weekend about a haunted insane asylum that was built over a brothel. (Who thinks of this crap? - and yet - I'll watch it - good grief!)

Oh, speaking of asylums... I saw this on the news some nights ago.
Central State, a documentary by independent filmmaker Dan T. Hall, explores the mysteries of what remains of the abandon hospital. (playing NOW: IMAX, etc.)

Gotta love local spooky... and go in search of more...

From Rootsweb: Indiana Historical Archives - history and pictures.
Indiana Public Records has virtual exhibits.
There was also a play written about the asylum's final years. (2005)
Here's a brief history and descriptions of paranormal on HauntedHouses.com.
On PrairieGhosts.com: "When Darkness Comes to Central State" and excerpt from Mark Meriman's "Haunted Indiana 3".
